This process can be improved by placing cross references between metric domains – for example, by adding the bug ID reference that has been fixed to a commit into the source code revision system and recording the commit or revision that a particular bug was found in and resolved to the bug tracking system. This now allows not only cross analysis where it is very simple to recreate a particular error scenario, but also allows deeper analysis into relationships between the bugs and the code base and the methods used to fix and locate the problems.
